Glenister Park Road Streatham fire 'murder' victim named - This is Local London

Basilio Dos Santos Antonio, 49, was found dead inside a house on Glenister Park Road shortly after 7pm on Sunday, February 25.

Basilio, originally from Brazil, had been in the UK for a number of years and worked as a cleaner.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with his family and friends as they continue to come to terms with their loss.”

A 34-year-old woman, Mayara Loiola Ataide, a 46-year-old man, Gevaldo Tavares Dos Santos, have been charged with murder.

Police update after man dies in Babington Road Streatham - This is Local London

The incident happened in Babington Road shortly after 1pm on March 2.

Officers, paramedics and London Air Ambulance attended and found a man injured.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

His death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious.

His family has been informed and police will now prepare a file for the coroner.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly after 13:00hrs on Saturday, 2 March to reports of a man found injured on Babington Road, SW16.

Among those jailed were six men who were convicted of the murder of Michael Jonas in Penge and two men who were found guilty of murdering Charlie Bartolo and Kearne Solanke in Abbey Wood.

Meanwhile, a truck driver was jailed after he crashed into a bus stop in Blackheath and killed 14-year-old Logan Finch.

And in other news, a mum from Erith was jailed after she tried to cover up an XL Bully attack.

Mayara Loiola Ataide, 34, and Gevaldo Tavares Dos Santos, 46, both of no fixed address, are accused of the murder of Dos Santos Antonio on February 25.

The pair are also charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

The blaze broke out at a house that is divided into bedsits in Glenister Park Road, Streatham, shortly after 7pm.

Loiola Ataide and Dos Santos appeared by videolink at the Old Bailey on Friday.

The court heard the flat was owned by a former landlord of Loiola Ataide and Dos Santos, and that Dos Santos Antonio was a tenant.

Two charged with murder after man dies in Streatham house fire - This is Local London

Mayara Loiola Ataide, 34, and Gevaldo Tavares Dos Santos, 46, both of no fixed address, will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court later on Wednesday.

They are also charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

The blaze broke out at a house that is divided into bedsits in Glenister Park Road, Streatham, shortly after 7pm on Sunday.

The 49-year-old man was found dead inside.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers, the Metropolitan Police said.
