Southern and Thameslink have announced that no trains will run between St Albans City and Sutton (London) via Mitcham Junction on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27. This is due to engineering work taking place between Streatham (Greater London) and Mitcham Junction, closing all lines. On Saturday, Southern will replace trains with buses between Streatham and Sutton via Mitcham Junction, which will also call at Streatham Common. Trains between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour, Barnham and Bognor Regis, and Chichester and Brighton are all set to be disrupted. Some lines between Barnham and Havant will be closed, which will affect the 9.35pm train from London Victoria to Portsmouth Harbour. This train, which usually separates at Barnham to form the 11.15pm Barnham to Bognor Regis service, will instead run through to Portsmouth Harbour. Streatham Churchmore Road: Man, 85, stabbed to death Submitted by daniel on Wed, 09/07/2025 - 16:13 Amithraz Balgobin, 36, allegedly attacked Amaratial Mistry at the property on Churchmore Road in Streatham on Friday, July 4. Paramedics were called to his home at around 1pm and found Mr Mistry with a number of injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene in Churchmore Road. Balgobin was arrested nearby and charged on Sunday with murder and possession of Class A and B drugs. On Wednesday, the defendant, of Woodbourne Avenue, Lambeth, appeared at the Old Bailey by video-link from Thameside prison. The pipe, located on Commonside East, CR4, caused homes in CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, and SW16 to experience no water or low pressure over the past two days. Thames Water said the leak has been stopped and excess water drained. The water company successfully rerouted water from other pipes to restore supply. The affected postcodes are CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, and SW16. A burst pipe on Commonside East in Mitcham Common is responsible for the shortage. As a temporary measure, water has been rerouted from other pipes, and it is hoped "all properties affected should have water back in your taps." The leak has been stopped and the excess water drained, according to Thames Water. A large shaft has been dug to access the damaged pipe, and a second one is being constructed.
