A23 Streatham Hill set for almost two years of TfL roadworks

Transport for London (TfL) is pressing ahead with the project, which will make changes to the road between Sternhold Avenue and Holmewood Road, five years after it was first proposed.

The scheme will see new pedestrian crossings and cycle lanes built, while some parking bays will be removed to clear bus lanes of obstructions.

Transport bosses claim that the changes will make it “easier, safer and more pleasant” for people to walk and cycle in the area.

Man dies and four injured in stabbings across London

The incidents unfolded between Friday (April 25) and Saturday (April 26) in Archway, Norbury, Streatham and Twickenham.

This only includes incidents that Newsquest London is aware of and has reported on.

Police confirm condition of man stabbed at underground station in Archway

Archway station was closed on Friday (April 25) shortly after 6.10pm after reports of an incident.

A man was found with a stab wound to his leg and he was taken to hospital as a priority.

Chris Kaba: Watchdog slams BBC over Streatham coverage

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it had gone to the broadcast regulator after demands for a public apology from the BBC were not met.

Gang member Mr Kaba was shot by police officer Martyn Blake after trying to ram his way past police cars in Streatham in September 2022.

The IOPC complained to the broadcaster after the Panorama episode initially aired without including its statement in reaction to claims by former regional director Sal Naseem.

Streatham man jailed for sexually assaulting lone women

Eddwin Cortes-Pinerez, of Mitcham Lane, sexually assaulted five women in the space of three weeks, each time quickly approaching the women from behind and grabbing their bottoms before cycling off.

On Thursday, April 17, a Woolwich Crown Court judge jailed the 40-year-old for 19 months and banned him from riding a bicycle.

Southern trains cancelled in lead up to Easter weekend

Engineering work is taking place between London Bridge and East Croydon, closing some lines via Sydenham on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 14, April 16, and April 17):

The 11.58pm train from London Bridge to Streatham Hill train will not run.

A replacement bus will run from London Bridge to Streatham Hill, calling at stations via Sydenham.

Streatham High Road: Man in critical condition after assault

Police were called to the incident on Streatham Green at 3.50pm on Monday (April 7).

The victim, a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Enquiries remain ongoing and a scene is in place.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 15:50hrs on Monday, 7 April to Streatham High Road, SW16 following a serious assault.

Teaching assistant accused of child sexual offences

Charlie Territt, 31, from South Bermondsey, was formerly employed as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Streatham Wells Primary School.

He is charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

Territt pleaded not guilty to the three charges during a brief hearing at Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, April 1.

The court heard the charges relate to allegations that Territt engaged in a sexual conversation with a child online last year.
