Streatham Common station Gatwick Express incident: Man dies

A casualty on the tracks was reported just before 5.40am on yesterday (November 9).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended, however, the man was pronounced dead shortly after.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Gatwick Express services between East Croydon and Clapham Junction were cancelled as the incident was dealt with.

All lines reopened just before 9am.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line near Streatham Common station at 5.46am on 9 November to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
