Fife Flyers: new reminiscing group, leadership team announced & new goalie signed

It’s been a busy week on and off the ice for Fife Flyers.

Head coach Tim Wallace has named his leadership team, added a new netminder - and he will also attend the launch a brand new reminiscing group this month.

The club has added a fourth netminder to the roster in the shape of Max Van Mullem on a two-way contract with Streatham Redhawks.

The 18-year-old previously in the NIHL with Romford Raiders, Solway Sharks as well as the London based Redhawks. He has also represented Great Britain at U16, U18 and U20 level having come through the junior ranks with Guildford Firestars and Firekings before continuing his development with Romford and Streatham.

He joins import netminder Dominik Groh, Jordan McLaughlin, and Kirkcaldy born Ben Keddie on the team for the new campaign.

The coach has also revealed the players who will serve as alternate captains behind skipper, Garet Hunt. That honour has gone to Victor Björkung, Max Coyle and Xander Lamppa.

Wallace is one of the guests at the first ever gathering of Flyers Memories - a new group which will bring together current and past players to talk about their careers and time in Kirkcaldy.

The reminiscing group meets on Wednesday, September 30 from 1:30pm at the Strathearn Hotel in the Lang Toun - the first in a series of events planned across this season.

The initiative has been launched by the same team which delivered last year’s hugely successful 1985 team reunion with a live show at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, and a sportsmen’s brunch at the hotel; events which generated some £6000 for CHAS and Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Kirkcaldy.

The reminiscing group is open to all fans to attend, and next week’s gathering will see Wallace joined by top-scoring forward Steven King, and former player and coach, Chic Cottrell who gave a lifetime of service to the club.
