Toby Heydon is confident his community will heal after bushfires ripped through the Victorian towns of Ravenswood and Harcourt, 130 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, where locals raised $100,000 within 24 hours to help families and businesses.

It will be a "long road ahead" for Skipton which has been hit with floods, drought and now devastating fires, which have destroyed more than 59 structures, including homes.

The number of buildings lost in Victoria’s devastating bushfires has risen to 350, with authorities warning that number would grow as assessors are able to access more areas affected by 12 large fires still burning across the state.
