Voters in Lambeth in London have had their say in the 2026 local elections.

It’s Conservative carnage in Sutton, and Labour losses in Wandsworth and Westminster, while the Tories cling on against Reform in Bexley. Meanwhile, Croydon’s count is just getting under way at the Fairfield Halls

The polls have closed.

Verification expected to start at 9.30am on Friday 8 May, and counting will begin after this.

In 2022, counting started mid to late morning and the first declaration was around 2.15pm.

The last declaration was shortly after 8pm.

Motorcyclist spared jail over death of woman, 86

A motorcyclist who knocked down and killed an 86-year-old woman as she crossed a road has been given a suspended jail sentence.
