Police and emergency services were called to Frith Road, just off Church Street in Croydon town centre, on May 31 just after 9am, following reports of a stabbing. Neighbours said that they had seen “a furious argument” taking place on the street before the stabbing: “There was very loud arguing, it was very aggressive. There were three people: a woman and two men,” one said. Osman, 26, was declared dead at the scene from a single stab wound. Ghebremedhin is 33 with an address on Streatham High Road. He has also been charged with possession of a Class B drug. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Class B drugs include cannabis, ketamine and amphetamine. Ghebremedhin meets the description given by the police of the man who needed to be taken to hospital for treatment following the incident. He is to appear at Thames Magistrates Court tomorrow. Another man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released on bail “as enquiries continue”, according to the Met. This latest violent incident was close to where 22-year-old Rijkaard Siafa was murdered in a violent stabbing on Fellmongers Yard, off Surrey Street, in April 2024. Two men were convicted of murder earlier this year, but a third suspect remains at large.
