South east London homes without water for second day after West Norwood burst pipes - News Shopper
Description

The incident, which began early on May 12, has affected customers across SE19 (Crystal Palace / Upper Norwood), SE27 (West Norwood / Tulse Hill) and SW16 (Streatham / Norbury), resulting in no water or low pressure.

Thames Water confirmed the issue was caused by burst pipes on Knights Hill in SE27, which led to wider disruption across nearby postcodes and left some households with no supply.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “We know how disruptive it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can.”

They added: “We’re on site working to fix the broken pipes in Knights Hill, SE27.

"These have unfortunately been affecting the supply to customers in the SE19, SE27 & SW16 postal code areas also.

"Apologies if you’re affected.”

To manage the outage, engineers have been redirecting water through the network in an effort to maintain supply for as many customers as possible while repairs continue.

Teams remain on site carrying out complex work to fix the damaged pipework and restore full service.

Bottled water has been delivered to affected customers, including those registered on Thames Water’s Priority Services Register, with support continuing for vulnerable residents until supplies are restored.

The spokesman said: “If you’re on our Priority Services Register we’re already delivering bottled water to those we know are affected.”

Once water returns, residents have been advised they may notice temporary discolouration, which Thames Water says is normal after this type of repair.

Customers are being directed to its After an Incident guide for further advice.

The company thanked residents for their patience, saying teams are working “as quickly and safely as possible” to complete repairs.

It added: “To help minimise disruption, we’re moving water around the network to keep the majority of customers in supply while we carry out the repair.”
