Police responding a serious incident have cordoned off huge swathes of a north-east London high street.

Residents report hearing gunshots near the A10 in Hackney around 1am on Tuesday.

Stoke Newington High Street is closed between Amhurst Road and Kynaston Avenue.

The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.

A second cordon is currently in place on nearby Dynevor Road.One resident told the Hackney Gazette: “I heard two or three gunshots around about midnight or 12.30. They woke me up.”

Lines have reopened following a fault with the signalling system at Doncaster. Trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

A problem in the depot at Chichester is disrupting services through this station. Some services may be diverted to run to and from Bognor Regis.

Serious delays on the A406

The northbound exit slip road is closed between the main carriageway and Old North Circular Road to facilitate emergency Affinity Water works.

Euston Square station is now operating a good service.

Disruption between Bridgend and Cardiff Central expected until 10:00

The fault with the signalling system between Pontyclun and Cardiff Central has now been rectified, allowing the line to be reopened. Trains between Bridgend and Cardiff Central may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised as services return to normal.

This is expected until 10am.
