Once part of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway's network of sidings and repair sheds, the site was abandoned in the 1960s and has since become one of Lambeth's most important local nature reserves -- a Green Flag-winning mix of grassland and woodland supporting over 33 recorded bird species, along with wild plants, insects and mammals.
