Saiqa Ali, a Lambeth Green candidate for Streatham St Leonard’s ward, and Sabine Mairey, standing in Lambeth’s Clapham Town, were detained by Metropolitan Police officers on Thursday, according to The Telegraph. Zack Polanski’s Green Party did not deny the two women had been arrested, as it declined to comment and said it was a matter for the police. Greens urged to disassociate themselves from ‘Trump owned by Jews’ candidate Submitted by daniel on Fri, 17/04/2026 - 11:05 Picture Labour and the Liberal Democrats have urged the Green Party to disassociate itself from one of its candidates, after she was found to have shared numerous antisemitic images on social media, including one claiming Donald Trump is “owned by Jews”. As reported by The Spectator, Saiqa Ali, a Green candidate in Lambeth, posted on social media in January that in 2001, “Israel creates false flag attack on US soil”, and separately posted that “Today England has a government overrepresented with Zionists Jews [sic] and it appears they care more for Israel than England.
