Police appeal for information following 'broad daylight rape' caught on CCTV - lbc.co.uk

The attack took place outside Gaumont Place at 5.30am on Tuesday, 12 May.

While it was not reported at the time, it was later seen on CCTV footage and police were alerted the following day.

An investigation has been launched, and detectives are looking for a man in connection with the incident.

He is described as black, of medium build and in his early 30s.

Specialist officers are also appealing for the victim to contact police.

Saiqa Ali, a Green Party candidate for Lambeth Council in the Streatham St Leonard’s ward, and Sabine Mairey, a candidate for the same council in Clapham Town, were detained on Thursday morning.

The pair were arrested by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred under Section 19 of the Public Order Act and taken into custody for questioning.

Ms Ali allegedly posted an image to Instagram of an armed man in a Hamas headband under the slogan “resistance is freedom”.

Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK.

“We have decided it is not appropriate to make a decision on whether, in all the circumstances, it’s fair and reasonable that Sergeant Blake should continue to face disciplinary proceedings, until we understand the impact of amendments to the use of force standard and any Home Office guidance,” the watchdog said.

IOPC director Amanda Rowe said: “We recognise the impact of this case on everyone affected and it isn’t our intention to delay matters any more than necessary, however it’s important that our decision takes account of impending changes to the use of force standard.”

A man has been charged with murder following the death of an 85-year-old at an address in south London.

Police launched a murder investigation after the force was called to a property on Churchmore Road, Lambeth, shortly after 1pm on Friday.

Emergency responders arrived to find a pensioner with 'a number of injuries'. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Amithraz Balgobin, 36, of Woodbourne Avenue, Lambeth, was charged on Sunday with murder, as well as possession of Class A and Class B drugs.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of an 85-year-old at an address in south London.

Police launched a murder investigation after the force was called to a property on Churchmore Road, Lambeth, shortly after 1pm on Friday.

There a pensioner was found with 'a number of injuries' and pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.

A 36-year-old man has now been arrested, after officers made the discovery at the Streatham address on Friday afternoon.

He remains in custody, the Met has confirmed.
