A pub that accused the police of 'causing more damage than burglars' after Met officers allegedly used a 'battering ram' in response to a suspected break-in have complained about an invoice of nearly £300.

Five officers responded to the potential burglary after spotting the smashed window, which was inset into the front door of Stanley's of Streatham, a gastro pub in south London.

But instead of reaching for the handle located inches away, the five officers instead opted to use a battering ram to enter the building.

A group of residents and businesses have won a legal challenge over a planned low traffic neighbourhood scheme in south London.

The West Dulwich Action Group (WDAG) brought a legal challenge and asked the court to stop Lambeth Council’s plans for a low traffic neighbourhood scheme (LTN) on an experimental basis after it made a decision to proceed last year.

Residents accused the council of ignoring their concerns and excluding businesses from a consultation, describing its approach as “so unfair as to be unlawful”.

Former Met police chief Lord Bernard Hogan-Howe has blasted the ‘awful’ decision for the officer who shot dead gangster Chris Kaba to face a gross misconduct hearing.

Yesterday watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said Metropolitan Police officer Martyn Blake, 41, will still have to face gross misconduct proceedings - after being cleared by a jury. It means he is facing the sack depending of the outcome of the hearing. A date has not yet been set.

Another botched London transport scheme: Streatham deserves better than this mess - lbc.co.uk

This is yet another example of Transport for London spending public money on a piecemeal scheme that pleases nobody.

Liberal Democrats have long supported renovation of the central reservation on Streatham Hill, to match the work we campaigned for and secured in the 2010s further south on Streatham High Road.

The addition of more street trees and reorganisation of the road to stop it feeling like a three-lane motorway is long, long overdue.
