Over 600 confirmed dead with UK search teams arriving in Kathmandu

A number of individuals with connections to the UK are reported missing following the devastating flash floods in Nepal, with fears mounting that they may be among the hundreds of fatalities.

The tragic event has claimed over 600 lives, and a UK team is set to arrive in Kathmandu on Saturday to join efforts in addressing the disaster's aftermath.

The Nepal Tourist Board reported that there are 33 UK citizens among the many missing since the floods hit on Wednesday.

A motorcyclist has admitted responsibility for the death of an elderly woman he knocked down on Streatham High Road.

Radu Tomescu, 32, was riding at speeds between 37mph and 40mph along the 30mph road when his motorbike struck Joan Brown, who was 86.

The collision occurred as Mrs Brown attempted to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing on March 8th 2023.

A murder investigation has been launched after an 85-year-old man was found dead at a property in Lambeth.

Officers were called at around 13:00hrs on Friday, 4 July, by the London Ambulance Service to an address in Churchmore Road, Streatham. The male had sustained a number of injuries.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services to save his life, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place.
