Brixton Road 59 bus incident: Man charged with attempted murder

Man charged with attempted murder after ‘disturbance’ on Brixton bus - Sutton & Croydon Guardian

Nathan Grant, 39, of Lambeth Walk, Brixton, was charged on November 22 with attempted murder and theft.

He appeared at Croydon Crown Court on November 23 and has been remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled for December 20 at the Old Bailey.

The incident happened on a route 59 bus on Brixton Road, SW9, at around 10.20am on November 21.

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

His family has been informed.

Southern between East Croydon and Watford Junction

Engineering work is taking place between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction, closing some lines.

As a result, from 8pm on Saturday until 12pm on Sunday, no Southern trains will run between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.

Lambeth Lanercost Road stabbing: Teen taken to hospital

The incident happened in Lanercost Road near Hillside Road just before 5pm yesterday (November 20).

Emergency services found the boy with a stab wound and he was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A crime scene remains in place.

Witnesses are urged to call police on 101 or message @MetCC on X, quoting reference 5364/20NOV.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 16:54hrs on Wednesday, 20 November to a report of a stabbing on Lanercost Road, Lambeth.

Euston station: Person dies after casualty on tracks

Air ambulance sent to scene as person dies at busy tube station - Sutton & Croydon Guardian

Police officers and paramedics attended a casualty on the tracks at 10.30pm yesterday (November 19).

A person was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner”, a spokesperson for the British Transport Police said.

Ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance were also sent to the scene, with the first crews arriving in two minutes.

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Streatham and Sutton and Wimbledon, closing some lines.

The 11.25pm train from London Victoria to Horsham service will divert between Balham and Sutton non-stop via West Croydon.

A replacement bus will run from Balham to Epsom at 11.45pm, calling at all stations.

Engineering work is taking place between West Croydon and London Bridge and Norwood Junction via Sydenham, closing all lines.

From around 11.15pm until the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings, trains to and from London Bridge will be amended.

Streatham Common station: Person dies after hit by train

Police were called to Streatham Common station on Thursday (November 7), to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 2.50pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The death impacted both Southern Railway and the Gatwick Express between East Croydon and Clapham Junction.

Tooting Bec Road Wandsworth crash: Cyclist fighting for life

Cyclist fighting for life after crash involving van in Wandsworth - Sutton & Croydon Guardian

Police were called at about 10.30pm on Friday (November 1) to reports of a crash involving a van and a cyclist on Tooting Bec Road at the junction with Franciscan Road, SW17.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and the cyclist was taken to the hospital where they remained in a life-threatening condition.

The 50-year-old driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious personal injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident and unfit through drink.

He remains in custody at this time.
