THE METROPOLITAN Police has made submissions to the coroner that an inquest into the death of Chris Kaba should not be resumed.

At a hearing at Southwark Coroner’s Court on Thursday, 1 October the Met outlined that the four questions considered by a coronial process – who died and when, where and how they died – have been answered completely by a criminal trial and an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

MARTYN BLAKE, the Met Police firearms officer who fatallyshot Chris Kaba during a police stop, has been found not guilty of murder.

Blake, 40, shot and killed the unarmed 24-year-old during a police vehicle stop in Streatham, south London, in September 2022.

A helicopter and six police cars stopped the vehicle on 5 September 2022, after it was linked to a Brixton shooting. Kaba, aware of being followed, told a friend before turning into Kirkstall Gardens in south London where Blake was waiting.
