Car Smashes Through Station Wall in Shocking South London Crash - SWD Media
Description

Terrified witnesses watched in horror as a car ploughed straight through the perimeter wall of Streatham Common Station on Sunday afternoon, leaving bricks, debris and stunned commuters scattered across the scene.

The dramatic incident unfolded outside the busy South London station as emergency services rushed to the area following reports of a vehicle crashing into the brick boundary wall near the station entrance.

Footage shared with SWD Media shows the Vauxhall Crossland embedded deep inside the wall, with bricks strewn across the platform as commuters stepped over rubble to board a train stopped at the station.

Further footage shared by The Daily Dazzling Dawn, captured from inside a train, shows passengers looking on in disbelief as the scene unfolded just outside the carriage windows.

According to a witness, the vehicle had been travelling down Carnforth Road before reaching the junction with Eardley Road, where it should have turned left or right. Instead, it is believed to have continued straight on, left the road and crashed directly into the station’s perimeter wall.

A spokesperson for Southern confirmed: “On Sunday afternoon, shortly before 3.30pm, a car crashed through the outside wall of platform 4 of Streatham Common station, sending bricks and debris onto the platform.

“The emergency services attended. Train services were not affected.”

The Metropolitan Police said no arrests were made.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed crews attended but were later stood down as they were not required.

The London Fire Brigade also attended the incident, though they have not yet issued a statement.

Eyewitnesses described hearing a “massive bang” moments before shocked passengers and passers-by rushed to see what had happened.

One witness said: “It sounded like an explosion. Everyone turned around and saw the car stuck in the wall.”

Another added: “People were trying to get onto the train while bricks were all over the platform. It was surreal.”

The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.

Despite the dramatic scene, there have so far been no reports of any serious injuries.
