Dave's Hot Chicken arrives on Croydon's Chicken Mile

A recent slider giveaway proved so popular that police had to be called in to its restaurants on Shaftesbury Avenue and in Westfield to manage the crowds. So yes, we're pretty confident that the arrival of Dave's Hot Chicken in Croydon this month is going to get a warm welcome, despite all the local competition.

The viral fried chicken spot is taking over the space previously occupied by another fast food giant, Five Guys, on the high street. It's the latest chicken shop to open on what's become known as Chicken Mile, with the road from Streatham to Croydon containing a total of 29 chicken shops so far.

On the menu will be the chicken, of course, with its seven-level spice scale from No Spice to Reaper (waiver required) and a whole roster of sides including mac & cheese and top-loaded fries. And one lucky Croydon local who films themselves eating at the new site and shares it on social will be in the chance of winning free chicken for a year.

We can safely say you should expect queues down the street when opening day rolls around.
