Submitted by daniel on Tue, 27/05/2025 - 17:21 Picture Image Description A string of driving and drug-related offences brought eight defendants before Bexleyheath Magistrates’ Court this month, resulting in more than £3,000 in combined fines, costs and surcharges, as well as driving bans, licence endorsements and forfeitures. The offences, ranging from speeding and drink-driving to mobile phone use and drug possession, were committed across Eltham, Streatham Hill, Crayford, Bexleyheath, Chatham, Welling and West Kensington. The hearings were held between May 14 and May 22, 2025. Speeding, Mobile Phone Use and Driving Offences Shariff Mohammed, 53, of Eltham, was fined £240 and given three penalty points for exceeding the 40mph limit on the A20 Sidcup By-Pass on July 11, 2024. He was sentenced on May 21, 2025. Liviu Ursei, 39, of Crayford, was fined £169 with three points for driving over the 20mph limit on Eynsham Drive, SE2, on June 9, 2024. Sentence passed on May 21. Alfred Ogbajie, 67, of Welling, received three points and a £100 fine for driving at 25mph in a 20mph zone on Academy Road, SE18, on February 18, 2024. Re-sentenced May 14, 2025. Paul Carter, 61, of Chatham, was re-sentenced on May 15 after driving at 46mph in a 40mph zone on the A20. He received three points and must pay £100 in fines and surcharge. Devashish Das, 49, of Bexleyheath, must pay £299 for exceeding a 20mph limit on Forest Road, Walthamstow, on October 9, 2024. Three points were added to his licence on May 22. Mobile Phone & Drink-Driving Offences Abishai Maxwell-Carr, 33, of Streatham Hill, was fined £1,070 and given six penalty points for using a hand-held phone while driving a BMW on Redcar Street, SE5, on June 4, 2024. Joseph Famurewa, 56, of West Kensington, admitted driving over the legal limit through Woolwich town centre on May 3, 2025, with 59mcg of alcohol per 100ml breath. Fined £701 and banned from driving for 15 months, reduced by 15 weeks if he completes a drink-driver course. Drug Possession Ben Wilders, 26, of Bexleyheath, was fined £365 after being caught with cocaine and cannabis in Crayford on May 19, 2025. The drugs were ordered to be destroyed.
