Homicide detectives are investigating an incident in Streatham which led to the death of a man - UK News in Pictures

Police were called at 2.26pm on Friday, 5 April, to a report of an altercation at a residential address in Fernwood Avenue SW16.

Officers attended the address where a man, aged in his 50s, was found unresponsive. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police were informed on Saturday, 6 April, that the man taken to hospital had died. Officers believe they know his identity but enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate next of kin.

Chris Kaba, in his twenties, was identified as the victim of the armed police shooting in Streatham by distraught friends.

The Drill artist, who is thought to be in his twenties, was shot near 10 p.m. on Monday in Kirsktall Gardens in Streatham Hill after a “tactical contact” to stop his suspect vehicle.

PC Paul Fisher, a specialist firearms officer, has been charged with a criminal offence in connection with the February 2020 incident, in which he was called to reports of a knife attack on members of the public.

He was one of the people who responded to Sudesh Amman, a 20-year-old Islamic extremist who was eventually shot dead by armed police in Streatham High Road while sporting a fake suicide vest.

On Monday, Fisher, a Surrey resident from Whyteleafe, made his initial court appearance to answer to the charge of dangerous driving.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Buckleigh Road in Streatham this morning (21 April).

Half of a ground-floor flat in a converted, two-storey house was damaged by the fire. Firefighters rescued a man from the ground-floor. A further five people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Two people were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 0010 and the fire was under control at 0102. Fire crews from Norbury, West Norwood and Tooting fire stations were in attendance.
