Submitted by daniel on Sun, 06/07/2025 - 13:41 Picture Image Description A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of an 85-year-old man at a residential property in Streatham, Lambeth. Amithraz Balgobin, of Woodbourne Avenue, Lambeth, was charged on Sunday, 6 July with murder and possession of Class A and Class B drugs. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 July. Elderly Victim Pronounced Dead at the Scene The charge relates to an incident on Friday, 4 July, when officers from the Metropolitan Police were called at around 13:00hrs to a residential address in Churchmore Road, Streatham, by the London Ambulance Service. The 85-year-old man was found with serious injuries and, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in due course. A man matching the suspect’s description was arrested nearby shortly after the incident and has now been formally charged. Police Investigation Continues The Met Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. A crime scene remained in place on Churchmore Road throughout the weekend while officers carried out enquiries. Authorities have not released the victim’s name, pending formal identification and coroner’s proceedings.
