This latest planning decision marks the second approval this year for a Lambeth partnership development under the New Homes Programme commitment to accelerating the delivery of affordable housing in the borough. Cllr Danny Adilypour, Lambeth’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Investment and New Homes, said: “We’re making real progress in delivering the new, genuinely affordable homes that Lambeth residents urgently need. “This latest approval at Leigham Court Road is another important milestone in our mission to build high-quality homes for local people, including a future 150 new social rent homes approved this year only, which will directly benefit families on our housing waiting list. “By working in partnership and using council-owned land effectively, we’re helping to unlock more sites, accelerate delivery, and provide the kind of secure, long-term housing our residents deserve in the face of an ongoing housing crisis, which we are committed to tackling at all costs.” Paul Rickard, CEO at Pocket Living, said:“Pocket has always been focused on working in partnership to unlock challenging sites with local authorities to deliver more affordable homes for Londoners. This endorsement of our planning application not only means that we can continue building the affordable homes that we know are needed, it also demonstrates that even within this challenging development environment SME developers are playing their part to tackle the housing crisis.” Lambeth owned the current Leigham Court Road car park site, designated for future housing as part of Lambeth’s emerging Site Allocations Development Plan Document, and entered an agreement earlier this year with Pocket Living to combine their neighbouring site with the car park to maximise the total number of new homes that could be delivered. Following the planning approval, construction works are set to begin in early 2026, with the scheme estimated to be completed by 2029.
