Taking place across three weeks (1–20 September 2026), the volunteer-powered festival will transform parks, pubs, churches, community venues, care settings and outdoor spaces into pop-up cinemas, offering audiences the chance to experience everything from Hollywood blockbusters and family favourites to award-winning international cinema, cult classics, documentaries and live music events. This year’s programme includes outdoor screenings of Jurassic Park on Streatham Common, The Swimmers at Tooting Bec Lido, a special singles social and screening of Crazy, Stupid, Love, family favourite Inside Out 2, Hitchcock masterpiece Vertigo, music-inspired events featuring Bruce Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and Northern Soul, plus a Film Quiz to launch the festival. As always, every event is completely free to attend. The festival is organised entirely by volunteers and supported by local businesses, community groups and residents, demonstrating the strength of Streatham’s community spirit and its growing reputation as one of South London’s most vibrant cultural destinations. Now in its eleventh year, the festival remains true to that mission. Every event is delivered by local volunteers who donate their time to create welcoming, inclusive experiences for residents of all ages and backgrounds. The festival is proudly supported by InStreatham, alongside local venues, businesses, sponsors and community organisations who help make the programme possible. Anne-Marie McGregor, Festival Organiser, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating our eleventh year. What makes Streatham Free Film Festival special is that it’s built by the community, for the community. Every screening is organised by volunteers, and every year we’re amazed by the generosity of local businesses, venues and residents who help bring the festival to life. We can’t wait to welcome audiences back this September for another fantastic programme of free cinema.” Event Information Many screenings will take place outdoors, and audiences are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs and warm clothing where appropriate.
