The next Lambeth Licensing Sub-Committee on Tuesday 11th November 2025, sees the operators asking to extend opening until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays, hoping to reposition the long-standing Streatham Hill pub as a more vibrant late-night venue. Lambeth: Marking Remembrance Sunday across the borough, 9th Nov 2025 Submitted by daniel on Wed, 05/11/2025 - 07:00 Picture Image A series of Remembrance Sunday events are taking place across Lambeth on 9 November, with the Mayor of Lambeth and the Leader of Lambeth Council joining our communities to mark the day and ensure the sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten. The day will start with a parade from Lambeth Town Hall to Windrush Square Brixton for a wreath laying. A public event being run in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and community partners will also be held in Windrush Square from 2pm at the African and Caribbean War Memorial. It follows a run of sell-out South London meetings in Brixton, Southwark and Lambeth, where Zarah Sultana MP and anti-apartheid veteran Andrew Feinstein helped launch the movement’s first local branches. Man been charged with murder following the death of a man in Streatham Submitted by daniel on Tue, 28/10/2025 - 08:00 Picture Image Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of Robert Hill, who died in May. David Souttar, 22 (20.09.03) of Chelsham Road, Clapham was charged with murder on Thursday, 23 October and appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 October where he was remanded into custody. He will next appear on Tuesday, 28 October at the Old Bailey. Police were called to Woodbourne Avenue, London, SW16 on Friday, 16 May following the death of 81-year-old Robert Hill. Smoke and steam clouds over Brixton as a 76 year old locomotive thunders past Submitted by daniel on Fri, 24/10/2025 - 08:00 Picture Image Seen thundering through Brixton and sending plumes of steam and smoke skyward yesterday was a mighty Merchant Navy Class 35028 locomotive named Clan Line. This loco is a bit of a regular visitor to Brixton and usually hauls private charter trains to the south coast and back in Pullman luxury. Streatham residents concerned at state of B&B property which caught fire in May Submitted by daniel on Thu, 23/10/2025 - 11:35 Picture Image Local residents in Streatham have raised concerns about the state of a property which was attended by the fire brigade earlier this year in their local neighbourhood. The property is owned by Dellhome Ltd, a company used by developer Iqbal Ali Khan to rent temporary accommodation to various London councils. Private Eye recently reported on the fact that Lambeth has given almost £4m to companies owned by Iqbal Ali Khan, despite the fact that the landlord has a previous conviction for illegally converting a property into flats without planning permission. The slowly disassembling Buzz Bike (no relation) of Brixton Station Road Submitted by daniel on Sun, 19/10/2025 - 07:00 Picture Image Seen locked up outside Craft Beer on Brixton Station Road is this knackered bike which served as an advert for the now defunct Buzz Bike rental business for three years. Time hasn’t been kind to the bike, which now has buckled and broken wheels. Lambeth forced to rethink green retrofit scheme after contractor collapse – and a bigger bill to finish the job Submitted by daniel on Wed, 15/10/2025 - 09:49 Picture Image Lambeth Council has been forced to step in and rethink part of its borough-wide green retrofit programme after its main contractor, Cenergist Ltd, went into administration over the summer — leaving the work only 90 per cent complete and the Council scrambling to finish the job. Cenergist had been hired under the government-backed Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to carry out low-carbon heating and energy-saving upgrades at ten schools and two leisure centres, including Streatham Leisure Centre.
