Operators answered six calls to the blaze and crews from West Norwood, Norbury, Tooting, Brixton and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham Fire Station was also used. The fire was brought under control by 2.40am but crews have remained on scene throughout the night damping down. Part of the roof of a school building was damaged by fire. London Fire Brigade have confirmed that no injuries have been reported. People in the local area were advised to keep their windows closed due to potential smoke travel. The road was also closed between the junctions of Chestnut Close and Leaf Grove but has since reopened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
