Tragic collision in Victoria claims lives of adult and two children

An incident involving a car and a truck at Stoneleigh, a small town in western Victoria, has resulted in the tragic deaths of an adult and two children. The collision occurred shortly after 9:30 AM at the intersection of Mount William Road and Eurambeen-Streatham Road, located approximately 45 minutes west of Ballarat.

According to Victoria Police, the car involved in the accident appeared to have rolled and subsequently been crushed. A second adult, who was trapped in the wreckage, has sustained life-threatening injuries and is expected to be airlifted to a hospital for urgent medical care. The truck driver reportedly escaped the crash with only minor injuries.

Authorities have cordoned off the area surrounding the crash site, and several nearby roads are closed as police and emergency services conduct their operations. Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are on their way to assess the situation and gather information about the incident.

Stoneleigh is a small community, with a population of just 45 residents, situated between the larger towns of Beaufort and Skipton. In light of the collision, police are urging anyone who witnessed the event to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

This year has seen a concerning rise in road fatalities in Victoria, with 247 deaths reported on the state’s roads thus far, representing an increase of six compared to the same period last year.
