Waterstones Broadway Shopping Centre: Opening date revealed

Waterstones will open its doors at Broadway Shopping Centre on October 24.

The opening comes after the bookseller previously announced it would be opening a new shop at 72-73 Broadway this autumn, in time for the Christmas season.

An exact opening date had not previously been announced.

Broadway Shopping Centre said: “Book lovers, we’ve got some exciting news… Waterstones will officially open its doors at Broadway Shopping Centre on Saturday 24 October!

“Whether you’re searching for your next great read, picking up the latest bestseller, discovering something for the little ones or starting your Christmas shopping, there’ll soon be even more to explore at the Broadway.

“Not long to wait now! Who’s looking forward to having Waterstones at the Broadway?”

The new bookshop will cover almost 4,000 square feet on a single ground-floor level.

It will include a dedicated children's section alongside a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as gifts, stationery and puzzles.

Waterstones previously said the store would serve local readers, families and commuters and complement its existing shops in Bromley, Blackheath and Greenwich.

The Bexleyheath opening follows new Waterstones stores at Lewisham Shopping Centre and on Streatham High Street in 2024.

Alistair Willmott, area manager at Waterstones, previously said: “We are thrilled to be opening a new Waterstones bookshop in Bexleyheath this autumn, in time for the Christmas season.

“The Broadway Shopping Centre is a fantastic location, and we look forward to becoming part of the local community.

“Alongside our wide range of fiction, non-fiction and children's books, customers will also find games, puzzles and gifts.

“Our booksellers are excited to welcome readers through the doors and help them discover their next great read.”
