The eclipse will reach a maximum at 7:12pm, when 90% of the sun will be covered by the moon. It will be the closest the UK has come to a total eclipse since 1999, according to Royal Museums Greenwich, and the closest we will get for another 55 years. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has advised eclipse viewers to purchase glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard to watch it safely.
