Southern and Thameslink services disrupted after vehicle strikes bridge - London Now

The collision happened at Tulse Hill on Wednesday, June 10 and disrupted train services.

Southern and Thameslink routes have been particularly affected, with services between London Bridge and Streatham Hill and from St Albans City to Sutton experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes, cancellations, or changes.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "A road vehicle striking a bridge at Tulse Hill means all lines are disrupted."

"You should allow at least an additional 45 minutes to complete your journey today."

The fire broke out at a sixth-floor flat in Streatham High Road shortly after 9.10pm on Sunday (June 8).

Three residents escaped before firefighters arrived, while a fourth man was treated at the scene.

A small blaze damaged part of the kitchen but was brought under control within an hour.

The London Fire Brigade said the fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by cooking being left unattended.

The London Fire Brigade was called just after 9.10pm yesterday (June 8) and dispatched four engines and 25 firefighters to Streatham High Road.

Three people left the building before the LFB arrived, and a fourth man was treated by the London Ambulance Service.

The fire was extinguished just under an hour later at 10.09pm.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by cooking left unattended

The LFB has issued a reminder of its cooking safety advice.

Woman receives £1.3m payout after police van crash left her seriously injured - London Now

The incident took place in Streatham, south London in 2019.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, sustained serious head injuries and is now cared for by her family.

Giles Mooney KC, representing the woman, told the High Court that both parties agreed she was partly responsible for the collision and would receive 40 per cent of the total damages.

Monday to Friday (June 1 to June 5):

Engineering work is taking place overnight from end of service Monday, finishing Friday morning, closing some lines.

At the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings, the 12.01am (on Tuesday to Friday mornings) London Bridge to Selhurst train will be diverted to Norwood Junction after calling at Tulse Hill.

Injured men among three arrested after 'knife fight' closes railway station - London Now

British Transport Police were alerted to the alleged fight at Streatham Common Railway Station at 11.25am this morning (May 17).

Two men in their 20s were found injured and were taken to hospital, where their conditions were confirmed to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

They have since been discharged and remain in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of affray.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Streatham Common Station has been reopened.

Urgent hunt launched after woman raped in south London - London Now

The attack took place outside Gaumont Place at around 5.30am on Tuesday (May 12).

Although it was not reported at the time, it was later captured on CCTV, which led police to be alerted the following day.

An investigation was launched and detectives are now seeking a man in connection with the incident.

He is described as black, of medium build, and in his early 30s.

Specialist officers are also urging the victim to come forward.

The incident, which began early on May 12, has affected customers across SE19 (Crystal Palace / Upper Norwood), SE27 (West Norwood / Tulse Hill) and SW16 (Streatham / Norbury), resulting in no water or low pressure.

Thames Water confirmed the issue was caused by burst pipes on Knights Hill in SE27, which led to wider disruption across nearby postcodes and left some households with no supply.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “We know how disruptive it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can.”
