Streatham Hill Road closures: Lambeth LibDems call for urgent resident input Submitted by daniel on Thu, 03/04/2025 - 10:00 Picture Image Transport for London (TfL) has announced that major works will start on the A23 Streatham Hill this summer, lasting until spring 2027. There will be widespread road closures and disruption. Liberal Democrat Councillors for the area are calling for a meeting with TfL and a locally-based consultation. Notices for works on what TfL calls a plan to “transform” the A23 between Sternhold Avenue and Holmewood Road have been published with a 21-day deadline for comment. Brixton’s popular Dogstar venue is up for sale, with Savills handling the listing Submitted by daniel on Thu, 03/04/2025 - 07:00 Picture Image The closure of the iconic Dogstar venue in Coldharbour Lane in October 2024 was a hammer blow to the local night economy, although the venue had been woefully under-performing for some time. After being briefly squatted within a week of its closure, the shutters went up and the entrance was boarded up in December 2024. Since then, the Victorian building has predictably become a target for flyposters and taggers, and what was once a bustling part of the area has become a ghost town at night.
