Clapham and Brixton Hill MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy this week led a trio of South London Labour MPs to help push through a Liberal Democrat Ten Minute Rule Bill calling for the UK to rejoin a customs union with the EU.

The bill, introduced by Lib Dem Europe Spokesperson Al Pinkerton MP, passed by the narrowest possible margin: a 100–100 tie, broken only by the Deputy Speaker’s casting vote. It was supported by just thirteen Labour MPs, including three from South London: Marsha de Cordova (Battersea), and Fleur Anderson (Putney) and Ribeiro-Addy.

A new traffic filter is due to be added to the Streatham Hill Low Traffic Neighbourhood, following a significant rise in traffic and speeding.

Plans for a new traffic filter at the junction of Palace Road and Leigham Vale, part of the Streatham Hill LTN, have been published by Lambeth Council.

The tweak to the existing scheme follows traffic monitoring which showed a significant increase in cut-through traffic on sections of Palace Road and Probyn Road since the scheme was last assessed, with over 3,700 vehicles a day passing down Palace Road.
