Lambeth Council is considering additional HMO planning controls, due to anti-social behaviour and other issues Streatham Common & Vale and Streatham St Leonard’s.

Concerns have been raised by local residents in relation to the recent increase in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in two of Lambeth’s wards – Streatham Common & Vale and Streatham St Leonard’s.

The concerns are related to anti-social behaviour, loss of family homes, and impact on the character of the area(s).

A group of Streatham residents are tackling noise pollution from modified motorbikes and cars using a high-tech microphone crowdfunded by the community.

The results of their summer monitoring project reveal a shocking level of traffic noise which is affecting the physical and mental health of locals, with hundreds of vehicles recorded emitting illegal levels of noise.

And now they’re urging Lambeth Council to take action, as major cities across the world begin to tackle traffic-generated noise.

The Liberal Democrats have asked Lambeth Council to waive any fines from the first two days of Streatham’s new Low Traffic Neighbourhood after emergency Thames Water works closed down Leigham Road.

The new Streatham Wells Low-Traffic Neighbourhood became operational on Monday 23 October, which collided with unplanned Thames Water works that caused carnage on Leigham Court Road and Streatham High Road.

Thames Water is carrying out emergency works in Leigham Court Road, Streatham this week between the junction near Streatham Hill Station and Leigham Vale Road. It is expected that the work will continue until the end of the week.

Lambeth Council is monitoring Thames Water’s management of the works to minimise disruption and ensure they are completed as soon as possible. We are working to ensure people can still access Leigham Court Road while the repairs are ongoing.

The critically-acclaimed kids game show Blue Badge Bunch is coming to Streatham Space Project on Tuesday 24 October for half-term as part of its 2023 UK tour, fresh off the back of a hit Edinburgh Fringe run at The Pleasance.

Blue Badge Bunch is an interactive kids game show from production company Ingenious Fools that offers audiences the experience of what it is like to have different disabilities through interactive games.

The rather splendid Streatham Strut is back this weekend, offering a ton of live music in a host of venues around SW16.

The music segment of Streatham Festival, the event runs as a one-day musical “pub crawl” showcasing 10 free live bands along and around Streatham High Street.

The route starts in Streatham Hill at 1pm with band 1 playing in venue 1, and then band 2 playing in venue 2, and so on up until 10pm for the final act at The Rabbit Hole down near Streatham Common.
