Several routes have been affected by a number of incidents.

Thameslink services were brought to a standstill on Sunday following a number of incidents. Thameslink Railway warned travellers that Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink trains would be affected by major disruption, including cancellations and delays, for several hours.

A landlord has warned that Labour’s tax hikes could force his pub to join the two boozers shutting their doors every day in Britain. Steve Novak, 49, who owns several venues in London including Stanleys of Streatham, began closing the pub during daytime hours from Monday to Thursday last month in a bid to “lose less money”. Mounting operating costs have seen the pub’s outgoing costs trump its profits and thrown its future into doubt after just two years of trade, mainly due to hikes of the National Living Wage and a 68% increase in business rates.

Shrimp Shack is a seafood restaurant, with branches in London’s Streatham and Camden, where they have launched a new lunch and savers menu. I headed down to the Camden branch to try out a selection of the items.

They were once a treasure trove of finds for bargain hunters. But many charity shops are struggling for survival as costs rise and sales slump in a challenging economic climate.

The warning comes after Cancer Research UK recently announced its plans to close 200 shops. Disability charity Scope is also shutting 56 stores across England and Wales, while Oxfam and Barnado’s have reported sluggish sales.
