On Wednesday, February 4, a jury at Inner London Crown Court found 32-year-old Sergiu Chiriac guilty of 12 counts of rape, actual bodily harm (ABH), coercive and controlling behaviour and child cruelty.

At the same court today, Friday, October 2, he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, to serve fours years on licence.

The charges relate to a series of incidents which took place between 2021 and 2025 against a woman in her 20s and her two-year-old child.

The comments were made during a pre-inquest review at Southwark Coroner’s Court yesterday (October 1).

Mr Kaba, 24, was shot by Sergeant Martyn Blake in September 2022 in Streatham, south-east London.

The 24-year-old had attempted to force his way past police vehicles in an Audi linked to previous firearms incidents.

James Harman, deputy assistant commissioner at the Metropolitan Police, said: "The circumstances around Chris Kaba’s death have already been fully established during the independent IOPC investigation and criminal trial.

The limited-stop service follows a public consultation which received 1,897 responses.

The UK’s largest hotel business is aiming to add more than 2,200 bedrooms across 17 locations under its Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn brands.

The plans form part of Whitbread’s wider strategy to grow its network to 98,000 bedrooms by 2030.

James Hall, acquisitions and development manager at Whitbread, will lead the expansion in Outer London.

Mr Hall said: "Each of London’s boroughs has its own distinct personality and feel, so it’s no wonder that the capital’s appeal to our leisure and business customers extends beyond the city centre.

The A23 Streatham Hill in south London is undergoing a major redesign, with Transport for London (TfL) leading works to install protected cycle lanes and dedicated bus lanes.

The project is expected to continue until spring 2027.

A spokesperson said: "The new layout will improve bus reliability and make it easier, safer, and more pleasant for people to walk and cycle in the area."
