Police have issued a major update after a man was stabbed outside a Starbucks on a busy UK high street.

Met Police officers were called to the attack and found a man in his 20s suffering from injuries at the scene. Medics rushed to the location to treat the victim who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Local councillor, Martin Abrams, posted on X: "Really shocking stabbing incident in Streatham this afternoon.

"Local Councillors are in touch with the Council and Police and will update with information as we get it.

"There are police cordons in place along the High Road so please do what you can to avoid the area until further notice".

Images taken at the scene show officers in blue overalls outside the Starbucks in Streatham Hill.

The area has now been cordoned off for more than five-and-a-half hours.

Police statement on the stabbing

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Around 1pm on Monday, October 6, officers attended Streatham Hill, following reports of a stabbing.

"A man, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene for a stab wound.

"He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.

"Police are making enquiries, and no arrests have been made at this stage."

A British holidaymaker who vanished while hiking on the Greek holiday island of Karpathos has been found dead.

The man, a 55-year-old, went missing more than a month ago after travelling alone to the island for the first time. He was found on Saturday in the remote area of Epionia in the north of the island.

The last known sighting of the man was him taking photographs on his phone in the fishing village of Diafani back in June. The local witness said the tourist had asked for directions to reach Vroukounda via the Lahamitis path.
