Local councillor, Martin Abrams, posted on X: "Really shocking stabbing incident in Streatham this afternoon.

"Local Councillors are in touch with the Council and Police and will update with information as we get it.

"There are police cordons in place along the High Road so please do what you can to avoid the area until further notice".

Images taken at the scene show officers in blue overalls outside the Starbucks in Streatham Hill.

The area has now been cordoned off for more than five-and-a-half hours.

Police statement on the stabbing

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Around 1pm on Monday, October 6, officers attended Streatham Hill, following reports of a stabbing.

"A man, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene for a stab wound.

"He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.

"Police are making enquiries, and no arrests have been made at this stage."

A man has been shot dead in the upmarket Costa del Sol resort of Puerto Banús in front of shocked British holidaymakers.

The 25-year-old victim was gunned down from close range on a cafe terrace after being caught unaware as he was smoking a cigarette and having a mobile phone conversation. CCTV footage is believed to show the gunman, wearing a baseball cap but disguised as a tourist, approaching his target and opening fire - and continuing to shoot him as he lay on the ground.
