In My View: Streatham MP Bell Ribeiro Addy - South London News

The King’s Speech was light on serious policy to address rising living costs or the crisis in our public services, but heavy on policy gimmicks.

It brought further confirmation that the Government is now in full retreat from Net Zero.

The announcement of a new North Sea annual oil and gas licensing bill changes little in practice, simply reiterating the Tories’ unsustainable commitment to more fossil fuel drilling.

Streatham won twice last weekend in the NIHL 1 and paid their respects to Adam Johnson before Saturday’s 8-3 home win over Invicta Dynamos, writes Christopher Beal.

Nottingham Panthers’ Johnson died at the end of last month after sustaining a cut to his neck from a skate worn by an opposition player.

Both teams laid a wreath at the High Road and all the players wore neckguards, a further legacy of Johnson’s passing.

Streatham opened the scoring in the eighth minute. JJ Pitchley and Josh Ealey-Newman linked up with Tomasz Skokan applying the finish.

‘Council must do better’: Streatham LTN launch marred by days of gridlock traffic - South London News

A Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) trial launched on Monday had “the worst start possible”, as traffic backed up onto a high street for days in a row.

The Streatham Wells LTN trial, which will run for 12 to 18 months, immediately came under fire from residents as gridlock traffic backed up for at least a mile along Streatham High Street on Monday and Tuesday.

A Thames Water emergency repair at the corner of Leigham Court Road and Streatham High Street contributed significantly to the traffic, though residents pointed out the area regularly has road works.

Sam Waller took just one minute to open the scoring at the High Road on Saturday.

Summer signing JJ Pitchley made an impression on the home crowd as he got into a fight with Harry Hatfield, both players ended up sitting in the box for five minutes as punishment.

Streatham doubled the score on 16 minutes. Josh Martin and Danny Ingoldsby provided the set up for Preston Tombs, whose long-range shot found the net.
