'Bold and compelling' crime drama from producer 50 Cent is the 'British version of Power'

Power producer 50 Cent's new British boxing drama Fightland is coming to Sky later this year with a gripping tale of revenge, betrayal and brutal ambition

Power producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's forthcoming boxing drama Fightland has been confirmed for a Sky release later this year.

Created in partnership with Starz, the programme centres on a disgraced boxing champion who returns to London following imprisonment to exact vengeance on the crime family he holds responsible for his downfall.

The eagerly awaited drama, set within the cutthroat world of British boxing, delivers a "gripping story of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition in and out of the ring".

Howard Charles (Top Boy) headlines the production as Maduka 'Duke' Kilroy, joined by an impressive ensemble that features Nicholas Pinnock (Hedda) as his adversary, Jamaican crime boss Kingsley Marshall, who controls London's boxing and gambling underworld.

The supporting cast comprises Deborah Ayorinde (Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue) as Kingsley's driven wife Joy and Charles Babalola (The Outlaws) as his unpredictable son, Ezekiel 'Zeek' Marshall, reports the Mirror.

Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Vampire Academy) takes on the role of Kingsley's shrewd and commercially astute daughter Cebella 'Cece', whilst Tahirah Sharif (The Haunting of Bly Manor) plays Kim Harper, a ring card girl who develops an interest in Duke upon his return to the capital.

Rounding out the cast, Tyler Conti (The Gentleman) portrays Justin 'Jay' Hall, Duke's closest friend who has struggled since his incarceration, and Richard Pepple (Gangs of London) appears as Duke's distant father Gary 'Gazzer' Kilroy, who operates an amateur boxing gym in Streatham. Fightland is emerging as essential viewing in the crime drama genre, with 50 Cent reuniting with several crucial behind-the-scenes collaborators from the Power universe for this new British production.

Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr will assume roles as showrunners and executive producers, having previously worked alongside the hip-hop mogul on both Power and BMF.

Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe, characterised the upcoming series as "a bold and compelling British production with a distinctive voice and the potential for true global impact.

"We are proud to partner with STARZ to continue offering premium, character-driven storytelling for our customers," she added. "This series is a natural fit for our growing Sky audiences who are drawn to ambitious, high-impact drama."

Meanwhile, Kathryn Busby, Starz's President of Original Programming, commented: "We're thrilled to be stepping back in the ring with our partners at Sky and look forward to building upon the next chapter of our long-standing creative collaboration together.

"Fightland delivers a dynamic blend of action and fearless, character-driven storytelling set against the vibrant backdrop of British boxing. We're proud to debut this bold drama as our first-fully owned original series."

Fightland will be released on Sky later this year.
