The A235 Brighton Road is blocked northbound between Purley Downs Road and Biddulph Road, with congestion in both directions. Long queues have built up through Purley and South Croydon since the incident was reported at around 8.40am. Bus routes 60, 312, 359, 407 and 466 are on diversion while the road remains closed.
