Buy Back Brixton submits ‘competitive’ bid for the purchase of Brixton Village and Market Row

Following the huge outpouring of local support at last week’s Buy Back Brixton rally, the organisers have announced that they have now “successfully submitted” what they believe to be a “competitive” bid for Brixton Village and Market Row.

In a statement issued earlier this week, they said:

Amazing news!

We can confirm that this afternoon, before the 17:00 deadline, the Buy Back Brixton campaign, with the support of a number of funders, *successfully submitted a bid* we believe to be competitive *for the purchase of Brixton Village and Market Row.*

We have been blown away by the passion, support and solidarity that the community has shown. But of course the community came out, it’s Brixton!

Over 36,000 petition signatures, over £550,000 raised on GoFundMe, in less than ONE WEEK! Incredible.

The current owners will now need some time to assess the bids they have received before letting us know which bids they choose to shortlist. We will keep everyone connected to the campaign updated as and when we hear anything!
