The single presents youthful rage within energy-filled post-punk guitar to explosive effect. A melodic “La la la” hook from bassist Mae Ryder trails throughout, giving the track a carefree quality that sits in strange, effective contrast with the abrasive vocals. Vocalist and guitarist Robert Riba has described it as “the least serious, most purely fun and ecstatic song” in the band’s catalogue, despite its subject: a widely hated figure who disappears without ever facing consequences. Both tracks were recorded live in producer Dan Carey’s studio in Streatham, all four members crammed into the same room. Carey himself has said the song and its video “defines exactly what it should sound, feel and look like to be in a band.” The B-side offers a counterpoint: ‘I Watched You as Your Mind Slipped Far (Away from Me)’ was finished one day before the band’s Green Man festival headline last year, and Riba has described it as “a summary of who we’ve been at the beginning, and perhaps a hint of what might come next.” The double release signals a busy period for the South Wales four-piece, who made their name with relentless gigging through 2025 and a debut festival run that included Green Man and Live At Leeds. They return this spring with headline shows, an appearance at Brighton’s The Great Escape and both Dot To Dot festivals, before supporting US band Militarie Gun in July. A limited edition 7-inch featuring both tracks is available from 1st May.
