Opening soon: a new Tesco Express store opposite Brixton tube station

In November last year we announced that a new Tesco Express store was going to take over the space formerly occupied by Costa Coffee on Brixton Road.

The transformation now almost looks complete, with the signage going up ahead of the opening of the store,

According to their licence application, they will be selling food and “alcohol for consumption off the premises” every day of the week from 6am to midnight and “late-night refreshment (indoors) on the following days: Monday-Sunday, 23:00-00:00.”

Long term Brixtonites will remember when the site was used by Sanders Jewellers (whose impressive façade still survives on the first floor) and after that Homelook (seen above in 2004).
