Description

The Metropolitan Police have appealed for a woman, believed to have been raped, to come forward after a man was arrested for an incident in Streatham, writes Gabriel Stewart…

Officers believe the woman was attacked after seeing footage of an incident took place on Blairderry Road at 5:30am on Tuesday, 12 May. It was not reported at the time but was captured on CCTV with the police alerted the following day.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape on Sunday 17 May and has been released on bail with enquiries ongoing.

Detective Constable Charlie Codrington, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know the woman in this footage will be scared, but we urge her to contact the police. We are concerned for her wellbeing and officers are here to provide her with welfare, medical and trained support.

“This was a horrifying incident which took place in broad daylight, close to a busy high street.”
