Stand up to racism: Brixton Library meeting to challenge anti-migrant rhetoric – Tuesday 16th June 2026 - Brixton Buzz
Description

A community meeting at Brixton Library this Tuesday will bring together local organisations and campaigners to challenge the racist anti-migrant rhetoric that organisers say is “blighting lives and threatening the safety of our communities.”

The event, organised by Lambeth Stand Up to Racism during Refugee Week, comes in the wake of what organisers describe as racist rampages and pogroms incited by the far right in Southampton, Belfast, Glasgow and Liverpool.

Speakers include Sonia Winifred, Windrush campaigner and community activist, and Weyman Bennett from national Stand Up to Racism.

The meeting is supported by Lambeth Green Party, Lambeth NEU, Lambeth Unison, Lambeth UNISON Black Workers Group, Care4Calais, Refugee Action and Clapham and Brixton Hill MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy.

Attendees can find out how to support refugee organisations in Lambeth and Calais, and join efforts to build the anti-racist movement locally.
