Streatham man who raped and abused girl under 13 jailed

Kamran Khan, of Streatham High Road in Lambeth, groomed the child by using established connections with her family to secure time alone with her, before abusing her in multiple locations, including her home, her bedroom and a park bench.

He threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone what he had done.

The offending came to light after a family member witnessed a concerning interaction between Khan and the child.

Despite the threats made against her, the girl bravely spoke out and disclosed the abuse.

The 44-year-old was arrested on July 6 following a report from a family member accusing him of rape and serious sexual assault of a child.

A detailed Metropolitan Police investigation uncovered the scale of Khan’s offending.

Officers seized his mobile phone at the time of his arrest after the victim disclosed, she had been forced to watch videos on the device.

Analysis of the phone revealed pornographic material in Khan’s search history, supporting the girl’s account.

Khan was later found guilty at Inner London Crown Court on January 15 of ten sexual offences against one child, including rape of a girl under 13 and sexual assault of a child by touching.

He was sentenced today (April 1) at the same court to 15 years in prison.

Detective Constable Franky Green, from the Met’s Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: “I commend the courage of the victim and her family who came forward to bring light to Khan’s terrible offences.

“Khan preyed on a defenceless child and took advantage of formed connections which he used as a smokescreen for his abusive crimes.

“The immeasurable bravery of the victim and her family is tremendously appreciated.

“Our Child Sexual Exploitation team works tirelessly to create a safe, supportive environment where victims feel able to speak freely.

“Their specialist approach ensures that children and families are heard, protected and empowered throughout the investigative process.”

Khan has been placed on the sex offenders register and was served with a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
