A new traffic filter is due to be added to the Streatham Hill Low Traffic Neighbourhood, following a significant rise in traffic and speeding.

Plans for a new traffic filter at the junction of Palace Road and Leigham Vale, part of the Streatham Hill LTN, have been published by Lambeth Council.

The tweak to the existing scheme follows traffic monitoring which showed a significant increase in cut-through traffic on sections of Palace Road and Probyn Road since the scheme was last assessed, with over 3,700 vehicles a day passing down Palace Road.

Lambeth Council has seen a dramatic rise in income from its parks and open spaces – up from just £150,000 in 2015 to around £1.8 million in 2025.

The turnaround follows the decision to bring the Parks Service back in-house in 2016, ending a long period of outsourcing and private contracts.

A new report to the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee praises the in-house model as a success story.
