Streatham secured a four-point weekend as they followed up a 4-2 win over Solent Devils with a 14-1 home win over MK Thunder on Sunday, writes Christopher Beal.

It took just 18 seconds for Streatham to open the scoring against Thunder as Jared Lane scored with the first shot on net of the game.

The RedHawks were 6-0 up after the first period with Lane netting a second before Ben Paynter, Ryan Watt and JJ Pitchley (two) also got on the scoresheet.

Streatham changed their netminder in the second period with youngster Dylan Phillips swapped in for Danny Milton.

The Conservatives have picked an assistant headteacher as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) for Streatham and Croydon North ahead of the general election.

Anthony Boutall is assistant headteacher at an Orpington school and lives in Croydon with his wife and daughter, having previously lived in Crystal Palace.

Previously, Anthony served as a councillor in Bedford, during which time he secured major road repairs, successfully campaigned against councillor pay increases and led a local task force tackling antisocial behaviour.

Streatham secured a spot in the NIHL 1 South Challenge Cup final with a 7-4 win on aggregate over Invicta Dynamos last weekend, writes Christopher Beal.

RedHawks battled through having a short bench in Gillingham to emerge from the first leg with a 3-2 victory.

Tomasz Skokan opened the scoring for the RedHawks in the first period with a powerplay goal and Ziggy Beesley added a second eight minutes into the second period.

Dynamos then got on the scoreboard through Sam Oliver and former Redhawk Tom Soar.

A duo from Streatham Ice Rink have just won the bronze medal for Ice Dance at the Youth Winter Olympics in Gangwon, South Korea.

Ashlee Slatter, 14, and Atl Ongay-Perez, 16, finished seventh in the rhythm dance after a small slip but powered back through to claim third place in the free dance to finish third. France took first place, with USA in silver.

Streatham’s Chris Bourke is set to challenge for the British bantamweight title against Ashley Lane on a night of triple title action at York Hall on March 22.

Bourke (13-1, 8) previously challenged for the British title at super-bantamweight against Marc Leach in early 2022 and is now seeking to officially reboot his career at the weight below.

“This is what I wanted and it is why I went down to bantamweight,” explained the 29-year-old, who trains out of the Peacock Gym in Epping. “I am aiming to make a statement and then move on from there.

A parade of shops in Streatham will be bulldozed and replaced with a seven-storey apartment block.

Lambeth councillors waved through the redevelopment of the 1930s Dorchester Parade at a planning meeting on Tuesday.

The new building, in Leigham Court Road, will contain 18 flats and two shops on the ground floor. Two-storey Dorchester Parade currently has four flats and three shop units, all of which are empty.
