A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of an 85-year-old man at a residential property in Streatham, Lambeth.

Amithraz Balgobin, of Woodbourne Avenue, Lambeth, was charged on Sunday, 6 July with murder and possession of Class A and Class B drugs. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 July.

Elderly Victim Pronounced Dead at the Scene

A murder investigation has been launched in Streatham, South London, after an 85-year-old man was found dead at a residential property on Churchmore Road, Lambeth.

Emergency services were called to the address at around 1:00pm on Friday, 4 July, following reports from the London Ambulance Service. Officers from the Metropolitan Police arrived to find the elderly man had sustained multiple injuries.

Police were called at 10:27am on Monday, 16 September, to a Route 159 bus at the Streatham BR Station bus terminal after reports of a man in possession of a firearm.

Armed Officers from the Met Police quickly responded, boarding the bus and arresting the suspect on suspicion of possessing a firearm. A suspected air rifle was recovered at the scene.

There were no reports of any injuries, and the situation was brought under control without further incident. The investigation is ongoing.

A string of driving and drug-related offences brought eight defendants before Bexleyheath Magistrates’ Court this month, resulting in more than £3,000 in combined fines, costs and surcharges, as well as driving bans, licence endorsements and forfeitures.

The offences, ranging from speeding and drink-driving to mobile phone use and drug possession, were committed across Eltham, Streatham Hill, Crayford, Bexleyheath, Chatham, Welling and West Kensington. The hearings were held between May 14 and May 22, 2025.

Speeding, Mobile Phone Use and Driving Offences

A significant fire broke out at a residential property on Woodbourne Avenue in Streatham yesterday, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.

Emergency services were first alerted at 4:39pm (14 May), after which ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were deployed from nearby stations including Tooting, Norbury, and West Norwood.

The loft area of the house was ablaze, but fortunately, seven people evacuated the building safely before crews arrived. No injuries have been reported.

A man has died and four others have been injured during a series of violent stabbings across London over a two-day period between Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The wave of incidents, which occurred in Archway, Norbury, Streatham, and Twickenham, has once again heightened concerns about knife crime in the capital.

Archway: Man Stabbed at Underground Station

At 6:10pm on Friday, Archway Underground Station was closed after police were called to reports of an assault.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed outside Streatham train station in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 26).

Metropolitan Police officers were called to Streatham High Road at 1.46am following reports of a fight outside the station. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and provided emergency treatment before taking the victim to hospital. Thankfully, his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing, the Met confirmed.

Police have launched an investigation after a man was stabbed during a fight outside Streatham railway station in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene on Streatham High Road at around 1.46am on Saturday, 26 April, following reports of an altercation outside the station.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was treated by emergency services and subsequently taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation after two boys were stabbed on Acacia Road, SW16 on Friday night.

Officers were called to the scene at 9.52pm on Friday, 25 April, following reports of a double stabbing. London Ambulance Service paramedics attended and treated the two boys at the scene before taking them to hospital.

Thankfully, the injuries sustained by both victims have been confirmed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.

Arrest Made

Emergency services have rushed to Streatham Railway Station this evening after reports that a person was struck by a train in the Streatham Tunnel, located off Streatham High Road near Tulse Hill.

The incident was reported at 7pm on Friday, 28 March, with initially British Transport Police (BTP) being sent to the scene. It is currenttly unclreat if the person stuck is a member of the public or staff member.
