Woorndoo-Streatham Road Reconstruction Ahead

Ararat Rural City Council's 2025/2026 Budget has allocated a $683,000 contribution for the upgrade of Woorndoo-Streatham Road, delivered in partnership with Moyne Shire Council.

This key section of shared rural road plays a central role in facilitating heavy vehicle transport and supporting our region's agricultural sector.

The works proposed will reconstruct a section of Woorndoo-Streatham Road, commencing from Warings Lane and continuing to Pagels Lane in Woorndoo.

Works will include widening the road seal, excavation and reuse of existing pavement, new subbase layers, drainage improvements, sealing, line marking, and associated signage. Works are expected to be completed by 30 June 2026.

This project is also supported by the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery Grants Program, which aims to support the construction and maintenance of local road infrastructure assets to facilitate greater accessibility and improve safety, economic and social outcomes.

Other key infrastructure initiatives under Council's 2025/2026 Budget include:

$2.32 million - Road Reconstruction Program

$1.8 million - Gravel Road Re-sheeting

$1 million - Buangor-Ben Nevis Road reconstruction

$1 million - Urban Road and Laneway Sealing

$1 million - Road Reseals

$750,000 - Urban Drainage

$400,000 - Footpaths and Cycleways

$400,000 - Bridge Renewal Program

$300,000 - Kerb and Channel Renewal Program

"We're pleased to be working with Moyne Shire Council to deliver these crucial road infrastructure upgrades," says Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.

"Woorndoo-Streatham Road is a key transport route that our rural community relies on, and these improvements will ensure a safer and more efficient road network for both heavy vehicles and local traffic."
