Steve Reed has become the new housing secretary following the resignation of Angela Rayner over her tax affairs.

He moves from his post as secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, which he took up after Labour won the General Election last July.

The former environment secretary has been appointed secretary of state for housing following Angela Rayner’s resignation earlier today, it has been confirmed.

Landlords have a new housing secretary after Steve Reed was confirmed in the role following the resignation of Angela Rayner.

Steve Reed has replaced Angela Rayner as housing secretary.

Reed, the MP for Streatham and Croydon North and former leader of Lambeth Council, was previously environment secretary – a post he held for 14 months.
