Man shot by police after ‘threatening to harm others’ during four-hour stand-off Submitted by daniel on Fri, 10/10/2025 - 08:00 Family members called 999 at 10am on Friday reporting the man was inside a property in Stow Crescent, Walthamstow, armed with a gun and threatening to harm himself, the Metropolitan Police said. For hours, armed officers and negotiators were on scene as the man inside threatened to seriously harm anyone coming into the address and shoot himself. At around 2pm, after a bang was heard inside, officers entered the property and discharged their weapons, Scotland Yard said. Streatham Hill stabbing near Starbucks: Suspect on the loose Submitted by daniel on Tue, 07/10/2025 - 11:29 Picture Image A man in his 20s was found injured outside Starbucks in Streatham Hill at around 1pm yesterday (October 6). He was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed not to be life-changing or threatening. In the latest update, officers confirmed there have still been no arrests. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Around 1pm on Monday, October 6, officers attended Streatham Hill, following reports of a stabbing. “A man, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene for a stab wound. Two of the incidents took place in south London, with one reported in Wallington and one in Streatham. Another one took place in Southall. Streatham's Julian's Primary School damaged in Leigham Court Road fire Submitted by daniel on Sat, 23/08/2025 - 11:00 Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire on Leigham Court Road just after midnight (August 23). The impacted school is believed to be Julian's Primary School. Operators answered six calls to the blaze and crews from West Norwood, Norbury, Tooting, Brixton and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham Fire Station was also used. The fire was brought under control by 2.40am but crews have remained on scene throughout the night damping down. Streatham Churchmore Road: Man, 85, stabbed to death Submitted by daniel on Wed, 09/07/2025 - 16:13 Amithraz Balgobin, 36, allegedly attacked Amratlal Mistry at the property on Churchmore Road in Streatham on Friday, July 4. Paramedics were called to his home at around 1pm and found Mr Mistry with a number of injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene in Churchmore Road. Balgobin was arrested nearby and charged on Sunday with murder and possession of Class A and B drugs. On Wednesday, the defendant, of Woodbourne Avenue, Lambeth, appeared at the Old Bailey by video-link from Thameside prison. Thames Water: Taps back on for CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, and SW16 Submitted by daniel on Wed, 09/07/2025 - 09:35 All properties in Croydon and Streatham affected by the broken pipe should now have water back in their taps, according to Thames Water. The pipe, located on Commonside East, CR4, caused homes in CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, and SW16 to experience no water or low pressure over the past two days. Thames Water said the leak has been stopped and excess water drained. The water company successfully rerouted water from other pipes to restore supply. Thames Water CR0 CR2 CR4 CR7 SW16 second day without water Submitted by daniel on Tue, 08/07/2025 - 12:24 Thousands of homes in Croydon and Streatham are facing a second day without water. The affected postcodes are CR0, CR2, CR4, CR7, and SW16. A burst pipe on Commonside East in Mitcham Common is responsible for the shortage. As a temporary measure, water has been rerouted from other pipes, and it is hoped "all properties affected should have water back in your taps." The leak has been stopped and the excess water drained, according to Thames Water. A large shaft has been dug to access the damaged pipe, and a second one is being constructed.
