Met officer who shot Chris Kaba will not face misconduct proceedings - London Now

Martyn Blake shot the 24-year-old gang member in Streatham, south-east London, in 2022 after he tried to ram his way past police cars.

The officer, known by the cypher NX121, was cleared of murder by a jury at the Old Bailey, but had still been facing potential misconduct proceedings.

Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has said he welcomes the decision by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

'Weapons used on both sides' of large street fight before man stabbed to death - London Now

Abdulkadir Mahamed, 22, was taken to hospital by his friends after he was stabbed in the early hours of Saturday, July 25.

He died a short time later.

Three men have been charged in relation to the incident and the investigation into further suspects remains ongoing.

Dvontre McCalla, 30, from Streatham, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday (August 4) charged with murder.

Prosecutor Rebecca Hummerstone said that shortly after bars in the area closed and people were milling in the street a large fight broke out.

Sunday (July 12):

Engineering work is taking place between Balham and Norwood Junction, closing some lines.

The 12.25am and 12.40am trains from London Victoria to Norwood Junction will terminate at Balham.

Replacement buses will run between Balham and Norwood Junction at 12.50am and 1.04am.

Engineering work is taking place between Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush, closing some lines until 8am.

Fundraiser launched after Ecuadorian man dies in south London crash - London Now

Brayan Pachacama, 27, sustained serious brain injuries after a collision on Streatham High Road.

He died on Friday, June 26, after his mother travelled from Ecuador.

Kelly Downes, who started the fundraiser, said: "He was from Ecuador he had no family here just friends"

Roof of building destroyed after lighting strike causes fire on roof - London Now

Billowing smoke could be seen around Mitcham Lane, near the Furzedown Brasserie, this morning (June 27) after the strike at 4.17am.

Lightning hit the roof of an end-of-terrace shop with homes above that were under construction.

Approximately 17 people called the London Fire Brigade as crews were at the scene tackling the blaze.

The roof was destroyed but there were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was eventually under control by 6.24am.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "The fire is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike."

Primary school pupils return from end-of-year trip to Paris - London Now

The Year 6 pupils from Cuddington Croft Primary School in Cheam enjoyed a residential visit to Paris, packed with activities designed to encourage independence, friendship, and learning beyond the classroom.

During the trip, pupils explored a local town, spent a day at Parc Astérix theme park, and visited the Eiffel Tower.
